I'm not above begging. And I'm not above shameless self-promotion. So here's the deal: if you visit my blog regularly, I'm asking you to leave a comment on the blog. I'll even take mean comments, if you must. I would prefer comments like, "Gee, Lynn, your writing really impacted me in a way that makes me want to run out and change the world." Or "I have never heard anything so profound." Or if that's too much, a simple, "Liked your post," will do, as long as you comment. Today I met with an agent at the Midwest Writers Workshop. (If you're peeking - and I hope you are - hi Diane!) I gave her my blog address so she can get an idea of my style, my voice and my platform. Some of you write comments on Facebook or you send me an e-mail to tell me you liked a post. I love that, and I appreciate your words of encouragement more than you know. I need to show that my blog has traffic, though, so agents will believe that I can market a potential book. And oh, how I want to market my book.
That's right. If I haven't told you yet, I have written a book. Okay, I cannot tell a lie. I've written most of a book. It's a memoir, similar in style to those by Anne Lamott or Elizabeth Gilbert or Lauren Winner. It has been both a joy and a pain to write. The way the publishing world works today is that authors must sell themselves and their product much more than they used to. So, I'm (once again) shamelessly trying to prove that my blog does indeed get traffic. I'm not sure how to set up a subscription to it so I'm asking for lots o' comments for now. If you want to advise me on the subscriber information, I welcome your geeky wisdom. Thanks for reading. I love you for it. But I'll love you more if you leave a comment.
